Enanthate
(Ester)
Enanthate is not a steroid, although it is commonly referred to as one in general conversation, most notable as testosterone. As it is not a steroid, Enanthate is actually an ester attached to a steroid, in-fact it is an ester that is attached to numerous steroids. While Testosterone-Enanthate is the most commonly known other Enanthate based steroid include Primobolan Depot (Methenolone Enanthate), Masteron (Drostanolone Enanthate) and Trenbolone-Enanthate. Each steroid listed is available with the Enanthate ester attached and each one is available with different esters attached if so desired. For example, testosterone can be found with a host of various esters attached, such as Testosterone-Cypionate, Testosterone-Propionate and many more. The same can be said of the other steroids listed as well; for example, you may acquire Trenbolone in the Trenbolone-Acetate form or Masteron in the more commonly found Propionate form. However, there is no doubt about it, of all the steroids that have the Enanthate ester attached Testosterone is the most common, however, in truth the ester can be attached to most any steroid.
So what exactly is an ester? In the simplest terms an ester is the attachment to a steroid that determines its active duration or in more specific terms its half-life. Every steroid carries with it an active half-life based upon the ester that is attached. The weight or mass of a particular steroid can have a slight effect on the active half-life depending on the steroid attached but generally speaking regardless of the steroid attached to the ester the half-life will be approximately the same. For Enanthate based steroids we can normally apply a half-life of approximately ten days.
As the ester attached to a steroid affects the half-life or active duration of the steroid it can further affect the total active dosing. For example, Testosterone-Enanthate will not provide as much usable testosterone per milligram as compared to Testosterone-Propionate at the same dose; the same can be said of Trenbolone-Enanthate versus Trenbolone-Acetate; milligram for milligram a 100mg dosing of Trenbolone-Acetate will provide a slightly higher amount of active Trenbolone than 100mg of Trenbolone-Enanthate. Granted, in most cases this difference can be very negligible and will generally be of very little concern.
The most notable attribute applied to any ester of great interest to the majority of steroid users will be the half-life it possesses thereby affecting the frequency of administration of the steroid in-which they are using with the particular ester attached. As Enanthate based steroids have somewhat of a long half-life frequent administration is not needed; however, our goals surrounding the use of a particular Enanthate based steroid will often largely affect application to a degree.
For purposes of hormone replacement therapy Enanthate based steroids will only need to be applied once every 10-14 days and generally Testosterone-Enanthate will be the only Enanthate based steroid used for this purpose. Conversely, when the same steroid is used for performance enhancing purposes we will find administration to be once every 7 days at a minimum with administration of two times per week being optimal. The reason we will want to apply the steroids more than once every 10-14 days for performance enhancing use it to ensure blood levels remain at their peak; this goes of all Enanthate based steroids such as Testosterone-Enanthate or Trenbolone-Enanthate and so on.
